Musical Theatre: - An exciting
adventure for ages 5 to 9. THis class is designed to
develop theatrical skills conductive to becoming
successful in the performing arts craft. Students
will participate in various verbal, mental, vocal,
facial and memorization exercises. Students will
learn to work in pairs, and also with props. THey
will learn a dance routine and a song from a musical

Introduction to Acting II: (for ages 9 to 16) -
This is the young actor's first formal meeting with
what it takes to compete successfully in the fast
world of commercials, motion pictures, industrial
films, TV, print work and more. Students will be
challenged to learn proper audition skills (in most
instances the job will be won or lost during the
audition.) (9:30 a.m.) |

Acting for Different Media - Tricia Homer (Casting Director & Instructor) has developed a new and exciting 2 day workshop... "Acting For Different Media" 10/1 Acting for Television 9:30-10:30 Introduction and analysis of commercials. Students will learn to identify different types of commercials. (Hard Sell, Soft Sell, Direct Response, Humourous) We will cover various commercial roles and principles for Reading Commercials including punching a word, coloring a word, inflections, transitions, tone, use of props and teleprompters. We will practice marking a script with various script copies. (script analysis) 10:30-12:00 Students will perform their commercial scripts/monologues in front of a camera. Lunch 12:30-1:30 Students will learn the difference between soaps, sitcoms, episodic dramas and what to expect on set for each. Students will perform various scripts in front of a camera. They will be coached on believability, reaction to partner vs. memorized lines, movement with purpose. 10/2 Acting for Film and Theater 9:30-10:30 Students will learn what to expect on a film set. Because films are shot out of sequence - students will work on retaining emotional continuity from scene to scene. They will be coached on believability, reaction to partner vs. memorized lines, movement with purpose, lines delivered in a conversational way. 10:30-12:00 We will cover elements of Stage presence and personality preojection. Students will learn about the theatrical commitment, rehearsal and performance elements. And we will do exercises that are centered on effective speech and voice projection. Lunch 12:30-1:30 Determining which medium is for you and Audition preparation for different mediums. We will discuss the elements of all mediums and review audition monologues. What medium does your monologue set you up for? How many monologues do you have prepared? We will review effective slating and audition pointers. | |

Cold Readings: Students will learn how to
connect quickly with unfamiliar scripts and
scene partners, improving cold reading skills
for auditions, stage readings, rehearsals, film
and television. The class will cover a wide
variety of styles and periods. (9:30 a.m. or 11
a.m.) |

"FROM THE SKILLFUL AUDITION....DIRECTLY TO THE JOB BOOKING" Date: Saturday, November 5th & 6th - Time: 9:30 am to 1:30 pm - Ages: 9 to 18 "By Mastering the Commercial Audition Process" Tricia Homer - Casting Director/ Acting Coach Saturday, November 5th In this workshop students will learn to master the skills of the commercial audition...giving them an edge in this competitive field.The class will focus on the following: Camera and cue card techniquesBlocking & hitting the markWorking with propsSpokesperson rolesImprovisational skillsWorking with other actors and products Students will demonstrate their understanding of the class by creating a sixty second spot for an imaginary product. The camera will be used during this class. Lunch will be provided Sunday, November 6th 9:30 to 1:30 "By Creative Use of the Teleprompter" Tricia Homer / Coach Mike Shannon / prompter Operator In this day and age, auditions are moving at the pace of technology. More auditions are using equipment such as a teleprompterto expedite the audition process. If an actor does not have the necessary comprehensive training and experience using a teleprompter, moving forward with the audition process is unlikely. This is an intensive workshop which affords actors the techniques necessary to master the use of a teleprompter, through hands on experience. The actors will also get the opportunity to put their newly acquired techniques to use by practicing with an actual teleprompter during the workshop to give the actor some real world experience. 12:30 Lunch will be provided 1:00 to 1:30 60 second commercial spots will be performed for parents. | |

Auditioning: Recommended to advanced students
that are returning to fine tune skills. An
innovative approach to audition preparation. The
course will focus on developing monologue material,
improving cold reading skills for theatre, film and
commercial work, and learning to experience each
audition as a welcome performance opportunity. (9:30
